Community Service Officer Program Expanded
The
Department is stepping up our Community Service program. Every officer in
our department is considered community service oriented. We all do some type
of community service day in and day out. It may be doing proactive patrols
in your buildings and making community contacts, it could be building better
working relationships, problem solving, or even providing a service such as
a lockout or vehicle jumpstart. By adopting and enhancing these types of
services we can better serve the community thus the community will feel
encouraged to partner with us to help further our mission by creating a
safer working and school environment. In addition, we will be assigning
officers on the afternoon shift specific freshman residence halls to be
primary contact officers. Officers from other shifts will be selected to
serve the West Campus and Main campus buildings. Day shift officers
will be able to choose specific departments with whom they would like to
adopt and act as a primary liason. Officers in the department have also
expressed interest in adopting various student activity groups. Residence
Housing Officers who rotate through different residence halls will also
select a residence hall to adopt for the academic year. Further
information and ideas will be placed on the public safety website and a
choice selection form will be available for officers to select their options
for the academic year. Officers will then receive confirmation via a
Certificate of their official adoption.
All Officers are required to submit a selection to Mrs.
Patch, via this form, by July 31, 2006.
